An Old Mission Winter Adventure

With warmer weather on the horizon, right now is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the last of winter. From active snowshoe hikes, to relaxing and delicious food and wine, there is something for everyone to enjoy on Old Mission Peninsula. Check out our list of fun activities Old Mission Peninsula has to offer before winter leaves us.

1. Snowshoe the Hare

1994 Carroll Rd, Traverse City, MI 49686

Grab your snowshoes or your winter boots and head to the Grey Hare Inn for a winter walk through the vines. From the Grey Hare Inn you can start your trek to Bonobo Winery or take your time exploring the Inn’s property. This is the perfect opportunity to burn some calories before enjoying a glass or two of wine at Bonobo. Take in the sights and sounds, and revel in the outdoor scenery of Old Mission Peninsula. Tell Bonobo owner Todd to strap on his shoes and join you for the trek back!

3. Tour the Mission Point Lighthouse

20500 Center Rd, Traverse City, MI 49686

Mission Point Lighthouse has been considered an Old Mission Peninsula icon for years and is a classic piece of Michigan history. Located at the end of M-37’s scenic drive through vineyards and cherry orchards, Mission Point Lighthouse is a must-see! Guests are encouraged to take themselves on a self-guided historical tour through the lighthouse. Climbing up the tower is like taking a step back in time to what life was like around the turn of the century for lighthouse keepers. Say hi to Ginger if she’s on duty!

Old Mission General Store was the first ever retail general store between Fort Wayne to Mackinaw, and they are still going strong today! They offer everything from penny candy, jams, cheese, sandwiches, and cookies, to antiques and more. Their old time touch is worth the visit.
